Sports News Headlines:

Atlanta Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr. Makes History

Atlanta Braves’ outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. made history yesterday. He became the fifth player in major league history to have 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a season. He accomplished this feat in Friday night’s game against the Washington Nationals. He scored his 40th home run in the Washington Nationals’ hometown. Ronald Acuna Jr. joined the likes of Jose Canseco (1988), Barry Bonds (1996), Alex Rodriguez (1998) and Alfonso Soriano (2006). Ronald Acuna Jr. is now a member of the 40-40 club. He is one of the leading contenders for the National League MVP honors. When he started the game he had 68 stolen bases. He’s one of the best in the majors. Ronald Acuna Jr. is the only player to have a 40-60 season. The outfielder is proud of his achievement. He is certain someone will break that record. The home run was his 160th in his career. He is the first player to have 160 homers and stolen bases at the age of 25 and younger. If that wasn’t enough, he doubled and scored three runs in the game which helped the Atlanta Braves beat the Washington Nationals 9-6.

Marlins’ Pitcher Sandy Alcantara Has Setback In Rehab Start

Miami Marlins’ pitcher Sandy Alcantara had right forearm tightness after his rehab start in Jacksonville. The Marlins’ manager Skip Schumaker is concerned about Sandy Alcantara’s forearm tightness because of who he is and what he means to the team. Sandy Alcantara is going to return to Miami to receive additional evaluation. He was placed on the injured list on September 6, 2023 because of his right forearm flexor strain. According to Skip Schumaker, the pitcher wasn’t going to let the team down if he felt he could play. He wanted to help the team get into the playoffs.

Minnesota Twins Third Baseman Royce Lewis Placed On The Injured List

Minnesota Twins third baseman Royce Lewis has been placed on a 10-day injured list. He strained his left hamstring on Friday. The team hopes the rookie will be better in time for the start of the playoffs. The Minnesota Twins announced that Royce Lewis was placed on the injured list before the three-game series at home against the Los Angeles Angels. Royce Lewis was taken out of the game on Tuesday during the eighth inning after he had a pain in his muscle. The rookie made his season debut in May 2023 after tearing his ACL in his right knee during the same month the previous year. He missed 36 games earlier this year because he strained his left oblique muscle. He will be replaced with Jordan Luplow for the remainder of the regular season.

Atlanta Braves’ Max Fried Back On Injured List

Atlanta Braves’ pitcher Max Fried was placed on a 15-day injured list. He is suffering from a recurring blister issue on his left index finger. He hopes he will be ready for the National League Division Series. The pitcher allowed one run on three hits over six innings in Thursday night’s game against the Washington Nationals. His ERA lowered to 2.55. The team decided to sit him out for the rest of the regular season. The Atlanta Braves’ hope Max Fried will be able to play in Game one or Game two of the National League Division Series.

The Braves have the MLB’s best record and have already earned their right to play in the second round of the playoffs. Before the Braves’ played the Nationals, Max Fried hadn’t started in nine days. He wanted to keep his blister issue from getting worse. The pitcher’s time on the injured list is set to end one day before the division series starts. If Max Fried’s finger is better, he will be able to play in the opener. He has dealt with this injury in the past. He has been suffering from it since his days in the minor leagues. Max Fried was able to deal with the injury until recently. This isn’t the first time he’s been on the injured list this season. He injured his left hamstring on opening day. He was on the injured list for 15 days for that. He missed almost three months because he strained his left forearm.
