NFL Football Legend Passes Away

Football Legend Dick Butkus passed away. Dick Butkus was a middle linebacker for the Chicago Bears. His speed and ferocity set the standards for the position. The Hall of Famer’s family confirmed that he passed away in his sleep at home. He made the Pro Bowl in eight of his nine seasons. His knee injury forced him to retire at an early age. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1979. He is considered one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history. Dick Butkus enjoyed his career as a sports broadcaster. He appeared in movies and TV shows. He was cast in a variety of commercials.

The legend often played himself no matter what role he was given. He was considered tough, but he had a soft side. He never wanted to hurt anyone unless it was important to the game. He was one of the rare athletes who played close to home throughout most of his career. When he had his choice to play for the Chicago Bears and the Denver Broncos, he chose the Bears. Dick Butkus made the city proud. He never accepted anything less than the best for himself or his team. The NFL legend always brought his speed, agility and attitude to the game. He was survived by his wife and children. He died at 80.

NCAAF Former Coach Sues School

Former Northwestern Wildcats’ coach Pat Fitzgerald isn’t happy about his firing. He decided to sue the school for $130 million. He is suing the school for wrongful termination. He was suspended and fired because of hazing and abuse allegations in the athletic department. Pat Fitzgerald’s lawyers announced the lawsuit on Thursday. The lawsuit comes three months after his suspension and firing. He was with the team for 17 years. According to his lawyers Dan K. Webb and Matthew R. Carter, Pat Fitzgerald is seeking additional money for emotional distress.

He is also suing for loss of income and punitive damages. The money includes $68 million that he is owed for his salary. The $62 million is for loss of income. The lawsuit is being filed against the school and the president. Dan K. Webb feels the school shouldn’t have fired Coach Fitzgerald. According to Dan K. Webb, the school wrongfully and illegally fired Pat Fitzgerald without a legitimate reason. The lawsuit is going to include breach of contract and defamation of character.

MLB Mets’ GM Resigns

New York Mets’ general manager Billy Eppler has resigned. He is under investigation by the MLB. He is being investigated for alleged improper use of the injured list. Billy Eppler’s resignation came three days after David Stearns was hired above him as the Mets’ first president of baseball operations. Billy Eppler was with the team for two seasons. He wanted David Stearns to have a clean slate so that meant he had to step down. According to the New York Mets’ owner Steve Cohen, Billy Eppler decided that it was in everyone’s best interest to hand over the leadership of baseball operations to David Stearn.

New York Giants’ Evan Neal Apologizes For Rant

New York Giants Evan Neal received criticism from fans when the team lost to the Seattle Seahawks. The offensive lineman missed several blocks as the Seattle Seahawks sacked quarterback Daniel Jones 10 times. Evan Neal got attention on social media because he missed his block. He ended up blocking his teammate Darren Waller instead. Local media and fans were upset when Evan Neal spoke in an interview. Evan Neal questioned why a lion would be concerned with the opinion of sheep. He questioned the professions of the people who commented about his performance. Evan Neal wondered if they flipped hot dogs and hamburgers. He was asked about a gesture he made to Giants’ fans when they booed him.

The offensive lineman wanted the fans to boo louder. He continued his rant by saying the fans were fair-weathered. He referred to the fans as bandwagoners. He understands that the fans want to see the team play well but no one wants them to perform as well as the players do. He wonders how the fans can call themselves fans when they booed their home team. Evan Neal received backlash for his comments. He apologized for his remarks on social media. He thought he was wrong for lashing out at the fans who were passionate about the game. He let his frustrations in his game get the better of him. He had no right to make fun of anyone’s job. He regrets what he said. He believes the team is working hard to grow.
